The network was cobbled together by Joanna and Drew Newbold with the idea that if we all helped each other by lending our various areas of expertise to projects, we would be able to scale and cut back as projects demanded.

In August of 2016, Joanna and Drew decided to make it official and take the idea of a scalable agency and mold it into a unique business model. While we have a core team of Mercenaries that do the vision and strategy share of the work, other mercenaries on our roster have their own businesses and operate independently. But the agency structure that Mercenary Creative Group offers them, allows for more legitimacy and resources, such as account management and accounts receivable services that they might not otherwise have. Hence the term “Independent Creative” was born, and it is quickly replacing the stigma of being a freelancer.

The core team, alone, has a vast amount of collective experience. Add to that the network of other mercenaries, and it isn’t hard to see that the math adds up quickly. Much like creative economies of scale.

Having access to so many creative and production resources, gives MCG the ability to grow the team based on project size and timeline. The bigger the project, and the faster you need it, the more our model makes sense for the success of your brand.
